The problem with ‘a type of amethyst’
Most crystals are sold by category, not provenance. They pass through layers of wholesalers until no one can say which country — let alone which mine — produced them. That gap is exactly where dyeing, heat treatment, and synthetic substitution hide.
What a real certificate documents
A genuine origin certificate ties one stone to one source: the country, region, and extraction batch. At MEG it also means the exact piece was photographed, weighed, and measured — what you see online is what arrives. No stock images. No substitutions.
